This document will cover the steps necessary to download and install the program. This document will discuss two topics:
If you have not already done so, please download the trial version from our website at www.realhound.com
(the trial version is fully functional once you have purchase the program and enter in your license number). If your computer is running Microsoft Vista operating system, please see the next section on Setting up Windows Vista to Run RealHound Successfully before continuing. If you are installing RealHound on a server or are going to be sharing the program over a network, please see the TechDoc titled Network Installation Overview.
1) After you have downloaded the trial version from our website, double click the “setupip.exe” file to begin
installing Realhound Live! The installation welcome screen will be displayed (you MUST have full
administrative rights to your computer to complete the installation process. If you do not own the computer
or someone else created your Windows user account on the computer, you should check with them before
proceeding).
2) Click on the Next> button to continue installing Realhound Live!. The License Agreement screen will be
displayed.
3) After reading the License Agreement, click the “I agree to the terms of this license agreement” radio
button and click on the Next> button inside this screen and the “Data Import Agreement” screen will be
displayed.
4) After reading the Data Import Agreement, click the “I agree to this terms” radio button and click on the
Next> button inside this screen and the following screen will be displayed.
5) If you are installing the software for the first time-- it is STRONGLY recommended that you do not change the default installation folder. (If you are currently using the software and are using this guide to reinstall or manually upgrade your currently installed program, please make sure
that you reinstall the software to the same folder that Realhound is currently installed to. This could be
C:\realhndip or C:\rhserver). The following screen will be displayed after you click on the Next> button.
6) The setup has enough information to begin installing the software, but you still have the option of
returning to any of the steps and making necessary adjustments. In order to continue installing Realhound
Live! click on the Install button. The screen with the progress indicator will be displayed.
7) Wait until the progress indicator reaches the end and the Finish screen will be displayed.
8) Click on the Finish button to complete the installation procedure.
To Setup Vista to work with Realhound Live! a few setting changes must be made. They are fairly
simple and the screen shots below will help guide you through this process. Please note, RealHound will not run successfully on Windows Vista Home Edition, as it lacks necessary functionality.
Step 1: You will need to get to the system settings screen. This can be done one of two ways, first you can
simply right click on the “Computer” icon on your desktop or you can go to your start menu and click on
“Control Panel”. Once the control panel is up double click on “System” Either way should bring up a screen
similar to below.
Step 2: Once on this screen click on “Advanced system settings” tab. This will bring up the the “System
Properties” Window. Notice that it opened to the “Advanced” tab because of the selection we made earlier.
Under the Performance section of this window click on the Settings button. This will open another window
for Performance Options.
Step 3: The Performance Options window will defualt to Visual Effects Tab, simply click on the “Data
Execution Prevention” tab to get the below window. The DEP on your Vista Machine will most likely already
be set to “Turn on DEP for essential Windows Programs and Services only” If it is not please set it as shown
above.
Step 4: Now that the DEP is set Click OK to close the Performance Options window. Then Click OK to
close the System Properties window. This will bring you back to your system overview screen. Click on
words Control Panel in the address bar. As shown above. This will bring you back to the Control Panel.
Step 5: On the control panel double click on User Accounts to open the user accounts window.
Step 6: Since this doc was created using a Vista Ultimate Machine it may be different than what you may be
seeing. If your screen looks like screen shot below, click on the link for “Turn User Account Control on or
off”. If your screen looks a little different, please type in the search field “UAC” at the top of the screen. As
you type in this search term, your screen will change and the selection for “Turn User Account Control on or
off” should appear. Then you can now click this option.
Step 7: Turn off your UAC by unchecking the box next to “Use User Account Control (UAC)” and click OK.
Vista will prompt you with a message informing you that these changes will not take effect until you have
rebooted your PC. Restart your computer and you will be able to install Realhound Live!
