Introduction (Please Read)

This document will provide you with the steps needed to transfer your RealHound database from one computer to another. If the computer you are moving your database to is running the new Microsoft Vista operating system you will also need to review the Tech Doc titled Vista Setup for Realhound Live.

Steps:

Step 1 – Download the Realhound Live program from the website by using the following link. http://www.realhoundfiles.com/product/realhound/setupip.exe and install the program on the new PC. Contact us at Support@realhound.com to reactivate your license so it can be moved to the new PC.

Step 2 – Start RealHound on the old computer, when the login screen comes up check the name of the database that you have been using to login to (it will be a Microsoft Database file with “.mdb” file on the end of it).

Step 3 – On the old PC locate the RealHound Live Program Folder.  It's default location is most likely C:\realhndip or C:\rhserver\realhnd

Step 4 – Copy the database that you previously identified on the login screen in Step 3, along with the “Documents”, “Properties” and “Templates” subfolders to a removable hard drive, network drive or USB drive.

Step 5 – On your new PC copy the database and subfolders from the external device in Step 4 into the RealHound folders on your new PC.  This should be C:\rhserver\realhnd and is the default folder structure that RealHound Live creates when installed to your computer.  You will be prompted with a question very similar to this message;

Select “Yes to All”

Step 6 – Now open RealHound on your new PC.  On the Login screen locate your database and login. The software will think you are on a trial period and you need to enter your license number. Once logged into your database select Activate from the Help menu.  Your new PC is now setup.
